HR 2629 is the number given to the Coercion is Not Health Care Act. Basically this is a counter measure to block government from forcing Americans to purchase health insurance.
Obviously, forcing Americans to purchase anything is not a proper role of government. Additionally, the idea of coercion here is not economically or morally sound. If we get government in the business of defining what is proper insurance, then the result will be the enrichment of lobbyists, increase in government power and reach, further erosion of our liberty, increase in costs for both insurance and health care, while we will see a further a decline in quality.
HR 2630 is the official number of the Protect Patients' and Physicians' Privacy Act. HR 2630 gives patients and physicians a legal method for opting out of federal electronic medical records systems.
A federal database of medical records is a violation of the 4th amendment, and puts too much power and authority in the hands of the government while reducing the liberty and privacy of the individual citizen.

Markham, I was wondering if you were concerned about Mr. Obama firing the CEO of General Motors? Are we moving towards a socialist country? If so business owners should be terified!!!!
Thanks for the question. I think the actions regarding GM, all the bailouts, and all the way down to firing of the GM CEO are not proper rolls of government. Yes, I am concerned. We are moving further down the socialist path that we have been on for a long time. Much of our markets are already socialized, but people call them free. We have not had a true free market, but advocates of the socialism that helped to cause the current mess are improperly pointing the finger at free markets and liberty. Meanwhile, much of the populace is asleep in complacency and apathy, so the trend towards socialism is increasing. The silver lining is that the acceleration in trend is leading more to wake up and cause a counter movement for liberty to take shape.
